White River Health System (WRHS) serves North Central Arkansas; it is a growing community with increasing needs for healthcare providers. WRHS is composed of White River Medical Center (WRMC), a 200-bed, not-for-profit, regional referral center, Stone County Medical Center (SCMC), three nursing homes, a home health agency, and rural clinics throughout the referral area.
Batesville is listed in "The 100 Best Small Towns in America" and has received awards that include Arkansas Volunteer Community of the Year. Stone County Medical Center (SCMC) is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving Mountain View and the Stone County area. The hospital’s Medical Staff includes eleven physicians representing six medical specialties. SCMC is beginning phase II of a $6M expansion and renovation of the hospital. Phase I of the project included a new wing for surgical and outpatient services. Phase II includes renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department, renovation of the radiology department, respiratory therapy, pharmacy and linen storage. Construction of a dining area, hospital gift shop, and visitor lobby will also complete Phase II.
