Maternity Care
Our Family Centered Maternity
Unit includes labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms, a level II neonatal nursery, a perinatal evaluation room, and a room for families of infants who may remain hospitalized after the mother is discharged. Our private Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms have been specifically designed to make the labor and birth of your baby as comfortable as possible. Rooms also include a television and reclining chair for dad.
The WRMC “ANGELS” program is an application of telemedicine, in which WRMC has partnered with UAMS to perform level II ultrasound on high-risk pregnant women here in our Women’s Center. These images will be interpreted real-time, via our telemedicine network, by the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist physician at UAMS. This program enables these identified “high-risk” patients in our service area to continue to receive their prenatal care from our local obstetricians while also having the needed consultation (via telemedicine) with specialists at UAMS.

Nursery
Even though the newborns are normally kept in the room with the mother, there may be occasions when the mother/family needs some uninterrupted rest. On these occasions, the baby is placed in our small nursery located just behind the nursing station, with the nursing staff watching and caring for the baby.
With a Level II neonatal and isolation nursery, we are equipped to treat infants who need advanced medical attention. Our experienced staff can care for babies who are underweight or have medical conditions that require a longer stay and higher level of nursing care.
Security is a high priority in every hospital. In the Family Centered Maternity Unit an electronic security system called HUGS provides that extra peace of mind for new parents.
