One in eight women will have breast cancer some time during her life.
Early detection is the key to successful treatment. Mammography is the best way to detect breast cancer at its earliest most curable stage. Annual mammograms are recommended for women age 40 & over. Women with a family history should talk to their physician about when to
begin annual mammograms.
White River Medical Center offers digital mammography & computer aided detection. Digital mammography provides superior image quality & allows the radiologist to magnify, adjust & change the contrast while reading the image. These features allow the radiologist to evaluate & focus on areas of concern better than with conventional film images. Computer-aided detection is designed to identify suspicious areas by highlighting or marking images for more careful study. For more information about mammography services, please call (870) 262-3232 or (888)373-6500.
If you cannot afford a mammogram or are not covered by commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid or Arkansas BreastCare, you may qualify for a FREE mammogram funded by the Arkansas Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation & White River Health System. Call 870-262-1035 for information about a free mammogram.
