Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy Pool at Batesville Community Center and Aquatic Park

 

Aquatic Therapy is a form of Physical Therapy performed in a warm therapy pool.  This form of therapy allows a patient to work their joints without the impact of physical therapy performed on land.  The warm water helps to dilate blood vessels, improving circulation and facilitate muscle relaxation.

Physicians or other providers may refer patients to aquatic therapy as an alternative to traditional physical therapy. Injured athletes, obese persons, fibromyalgia and arthritis sufferers, pre/postnatal women, and those with fragile bones are examples of patients who may benefit from Aquatic Therapy.  It is beneficial to patients who may not be capable of comfortably and safely performing exercise on land. Patients are accepted to Aquatic Therapy by referral from Primary Care Provider or Specialist. For referral information call (870)262.1271.
