Recuperative Care

The Recuperative Care department of White River Medical Center is a 15-bed Skilled Nursing facility.

All referring patients are evaluated at no cost within 24 hours of the physician referral.

We use an interdisciplinary approach to individual treatment plans for any of the following:

• Physical Therapy
• Occupational Therapy
• Speech Therapy

An Activities Coordinator is on staff as well as 24-hour nursing staff and dedicated Physicians. Additionally, a discharge planner is available to assist with aftercare.

Benefits of the program include:

• Available on unit Hair Salon
• Activities room/family room
• Daily activities such as group singing, Bingo, Devotion, wheelchair rides, movie/popcorn socials, etc.

The program is recognized by Medicare Part A and other third party payers. Individuals with Medicare Part A may qualify for the program if they have had:

1. A 3-night qualifying stay in an acute care facility within the last
30 days.
2. Skilled care needs identified by their primary or referring physician, such as:

• Wound care
• Physical/Occupational therapy for strengthening/gait training
• Speech therapy for swallowing or speech disorders
• 24-hour nursing care
• Observation of continued acute illness
