Mission Statement
White River Medical Center's mission is to promote healthier communities and provide quality, efficient healthcare in an atmosphere of compassion, respect, and dignity.
A Brief History
More than 30 years ago, a group of dedicated community-minded individuals envisioned a new hospital for the growing health care needs in North Central Arkansas. On September 30, 1969, they gathered with their plans and established an office in downtown Batesville solely for the purpose of acquiring support and sufficient resources to build this new hospital. After tremendous support from the community, White River Medical Center (WRMC)opened its doors to receive the first patient on January 31, 1976. Initially, the 106 bed hospital employed approximately 110. Presently, WRMC is considered a major employer in Batesville with approximately 1,000 employees.
Today, White River Medical Center is a 199 bed private-not-for-profit hospital that serves as a regional referral Center for North Central Arkansas. WRMC is the flagship hospital of White River Health System, a regional healthcare organization.
WRMC is a member of Premier (an alliance of more than 1,700 hospitals), the American Hospital Association, and is licensed by the Arkansas Department of Health.
