WRMC North Complex Earns Accreditation

WRMC North Complex Earns Accreditation (Cherokee Village, AR)--White River Medical Center North Complex has earned a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) for images of the head/neck, chest, and abdomen in both pediatric and adult patients. This accreditation comes as a result of a review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). CT scanning—sometimes called CAT scanning—is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.

"We are very proud that the North Complex has received a re-accreditation of our CT department. This means that you can be assured that you are receiving the best possible care without having to leave the area," said Amy Whitten, CT Technologist at North Complex Imaging. WRMC North Complex is one of just 39 facilities in the state with CT accreditation. White River Medical Center in Batesville also holds the accreditation.

"I am proud of the commitment of our North Complex staff required to achieve accreditation," said Gary L. Bebow, WRHS CEO/Administrator. Aside from CT scanning, the WRMC North Complex Imaging performs an array of diagnostic imaging tests including bone densitometry, X-RAY, mammography, and ultrasound.

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

The WRMC North Complex is an outpatient care facility that consists of physician offices, after hours urgent care, a laboratory, imaging, and rehabilitation services. It is a part of White River Health System (WRHS). WRHS is a not-for-profit healthcare system serving residents throughout North Central Arkansas. The system includes hospitals, outpatient facilities, primary care and specialty physician office practices and a medical equipment company. White River Health System is a member of the Premier Alliance, the American Hospital Association, and the Arkansas Hospital Association and licensed by the Arkansas Department of Health.
