Volunteer Opportunities and Gift Shop
The volunteer family at White River Medical Center knows the importance of giving back, helping others and making a difference; they live it and enjoy it each day. We are always looking for others who want to make a difference too.
The first time you hand flowers to a hospitalized patient, hand deliver a get-well card, escort a worried family member or visitor to their destination, or direct visitors to a patient's room, you will understand your important role in the patient healing process and the visitor’s overall hospital experience. According to research and our own experience, patients have a greater confidence in their recovery when they know they are surrounded by caring people.
The volunteer program consists of 170 men and women who freely donate more than 24,000 hours annually. Additionally, volunteers raise funds for the hospital through the gift shop and various fundraisers which directly benefit patient care, hospital projects and initiatives.

Gift Shop
The hospital gift shop, The Cheering Section, is operated by talented volunteers and is the main source of raising funds to purchase needed equipment and support programs such as nursing scholarships. The gift shop provides a respite for families needing to take a break from a patient’s room and provides a great place for visitors and employees to shop for the latest in home décor and gift items. Our savvy buyers attend markets in both Dallas and Atlanta searching for the latest trends and gift ideas.
You can also select get well items from the shop and it will be promptly delivered to the patient’s room. Items available for phone/credit card orders are: Mylar balloons-single or bouquet, simple fresh carnation arrangement or rose bud vase. You may call 870-262-1465 to speak to a gift shop attendant who will be happy to help you spread get well wishes and cheer!
Remember, all the proceeds of the gift shop go to help purchase hospital equipment, fund scholarships and help with monetary donations to support hospital initiatives.
