(Batesville, Ark.)—Many physicians see patients in offices; however, there are other physicians whose office is at a patient’s hospital bedside. These physicians, called Hospitalists, coordinate the care for those whose illness or injury requires a hospital stay. Not only are they readily available, but they are also well-trained in a wide array of medical conditions.

Gary Bebow, CEO of White River Health System (WRHS), recently announced the addition of three Hospitalists to the Medical Staff at White River Medical Center (WRMC): Dr. Anitsira Collado, Dr. Joaquin Duarte, and Dr. Mahiry Romero-Salinas.

Drs. Collado, Duarte, and Romero-Salinas will organize the communication between different doctors caring for a patient, serve as the point of contact for other doctors and nurses for questions, updates, and developing a comprehensive plan of care, and they are also the primary physician for family members to contact for updates on a loved one during a hospital stay.

These physicians join the WRMC Hospital Medicine team that includes Drs. Anil Kumar, Nathan McLaughlin, Morgan Norton, Luis Quiel, Wassim Radwan, Miguel Villagra, Nisha Viswanathan, and Robert Walton.

Dr. Anitsira Collado received her Medical Degree from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Joaquin Duarte obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Panama in Panama City, Panama. He completed a Residency in Internal Medicine from the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Mahiry Romero-Salinas obtained her Medical Degree from the Zulia University School of Medicine in Venezuela. She completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at the Central Hospital Dr. Urquinaona in Venezuela. She completed Residency in Internal Medicine at the Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York, and an Observership in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and at Jackson Memorial Hospital, both in Florida.

All three physicians are fluent in English and Spanish.

Because they are in the hospital most of the time, Hospitalists such as Collado, Duarte, and Salinas are able to track test results and order necessary follow-up tests promptly.

“We are very fortunate to be able to expand our Hospital Medicine program,” said Dr. Miguel Villagra, Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program. “This service takes a little pressure off of our local physicians who also see patients in the office, and it helps patients receive timely answers regarding their health condition.”
