Psychiatrist Joins WRMC

John F. Rians MD, Psychiatry, WRMC Stepping Stone

(Batesville, Ark.) – Dr. John F. Rians, a fellowship trained Psychiatrist, has been appointed as the Medical Director and supervising physician for WRMC’s adult inpatient psychiatric unit, The Stepping Stone, announced Gary L. Bebow, CEO of White River Health System.

Dr. Rians is also accepting children and adolescents for outpatient treatment at the WRHS Behavioral Health Clinic in Batesville.

As a Psychiatrist, Dr. Rians’ primary focus is treating patients suffering from depression, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety disorders. He has a secondary focus which includes a number of other psychological disorders.

Dr. Rians received his medical degree from Texas A&M University Health Science Center. He completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He completed a residency in Adult Psychiatry at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

He is Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is eligible for Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry.

“With experience in varying ages of psychiatry patients, and aspects of mental illness, Dr. Rians will be a great resource for psychiatric care in our area,” said Bebow.

Dr. Rians’ past experience includes serving as a Program Manager for Life Skills Flight at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, where he ran day-to-day operations of a large mental health clinic; serving a mental health provider role in Iraq; and operating a private outpatient psychiatry clinic in Alabama where he treated adults, adolescents, and children.
