WRHS to Open Medical Complex; Kick-Off Event Scheduled

WRMC Medical Complex Newport, Architect's Rendering

(Newport, Ark.)--The building that once served the community as a Kroger grocery store will now serve the community in a different capacity—as a medical facility. White River Health System (WRHS) recently began renovation of the building to transform it into the WRMC Medical Complex-Newport, a facility that will enhance medical care by providing area residents with services which are currently not available locally.

A Construction Kick-Off celebration is scheduled for May 17 at 10:00am at the WRMC Medical Complex-Newport. The public is invited to attend.

When completed, the WRMC Medical Complex-Newport will include clinic facilities for specialty physicians, a pain management clinic, an urgent care clinic, a cardiac rehabilitation area, and an imaging center with MRI.

ATTENTION Medical Supply and Norman & Baker Pharmacy will also lease space inside the complex. The Newport Diagnostic Medical Clinic will continue in its current location.

“The WRMC Medical Complex in Newport will serve as a hub that allows residents of Jackson County and surrounding areas to easily access healthcare services,” said Gary Bebow, CEO of White River Health System. “An added benefit in this endeavor is the opportunity to preserve the character of the community by revitalizing this once empty building in the heart of Newport.”

The project is tentatively scheduled for completion this Fall. Frank A. Rogers & Co. of

Newport is the primary contractor of the project.

WRHS is a not-for-profit healthcare system serving residents throughout North Central Arkansas.  The system includes hospitals, outpatient facilities, primary care and specialty physician office practices.  WRHS is a member of the Premier Alliance, the American Hospital Association, and the Arkansas Hospital Association and licensed by the Arkansas Department of Health.
