Cherin Pace, Speech-Language Pathologist , WRMC PROS, White River Medical Center.(Batesville, Ark.) – Gary L. Bebow, Administrator/CEO of White River Medical Center (WRMC), is pleased to welcome Cherin Pace, Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), to Batesville. Cherin is treating patients for Speech-Language Pathology Services at WRMC PROS (Physical Rehab Outpatient Services). She is currently seeing Acute Care patients in the hospital as well.

The SLP role includes evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders resulting from neurological conditions. Cherin also treats patients with voice disorders resulting from vocal injury or illness including laryngeal cancer patients. In addition to treating patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting, Cherin screens patients in WRMC’s Inpatient Rehabilitation and Recuperative Care Units to identify those who would benefit from her services.

Cherin received a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

“Cherin has a special skill set that will be a great benefit to our patients,” said Bebow.  “In addition to her skill, she also has a passion and drive for patient care that makes her a great fit for our organization.”

Cherin’s goals are to increase awareness of role of SLP in treating communication disorders; expand the SPL services; and ensure the availability Lee Silverman Voice Treatments (LSVT) for patients with Parkinson’s disease and Electrical Stimulation Therapy for patients with swallowing and other oral-facial disorders for patients in the WRHS service area.

“There aren't enough words to express how delighted, grateful, and blessed I am to be selected for this position.  I've dreamed of this type of work ever since entering the field of speech-language pathology,” said Cherin. “I knew WRMC was where I wanted to practice, after speaking with other therapists and seeing the beauty and cleanliness of their facility.”

Cherin’s mother and step-father have been residents of the Batesville area for over 30 years.

Patients who might benefit from SLP services should speak to their primary care provider about being referred for therapy at WRMC PROS.
