(Batesville, Ark.) – White River Medical Center (WRMC) has received the Supply Chain Excellence Award from Premier Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company, for its superior supply expense performance.

To be eligible, each organization had to submit four quarters of calendar year 2015 data. Supply Focus, the industry’s largest comparative database of operational and supply chain cost information for acute care hospitals, enables hospitals to compare supply expense performance to that of similar facilities and easily identify improvement opportunities. Winners were identified using four industry standard case-mix-index-adjusted supply expense ratios and a peer grouping methodology to ensure that organizations of diverse sizes and complexity were considered equally.

“WRMC was named a Most Improved recipient for continuously advancing their supply purchasing strategies and collaborating to share best practices that support Premier alliance members,” said Durral R. Gilbert, president of supply chain services, Premier. “We are thrilled to present them with this honor as they work to provide high-value care in their community.”

Out of 3,600 Premier members, WRMC was one of 33 hospitals and health systems in the nation, and the only one in Arkansas to receive the award this year.

“Being a part of the Premier organization allows WRMC to secure quality medical supplies at the best possible price,” said Gary Bebow, White River Health System (WRHS) CEO. “Greg Moser and his team work closely with our physicians and clinical managers to achieve and sustain the strong supply chain performance that is essential to controlling costs and ensuring our organization has the resources we need to meet the healthcare needs of the patients we serve.”

WRMC accepted the award at Premier’s 2016 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in National Harbor, Maryland on June 23.
