WRHS Community Engagement Partners with Batesville Parks and Recreation for Ultimate Fitness Challenge
Jeff Owens (above left), parks director for the city of Batesville, along with Jody Smotherman (center), vice president for community engagement at White River Medical Center (WRMC), and Amy Finster (right), community engagement director at WRMC, recently visited with White River Now’s Big Daddy Randy about the year-long Ultimate Wellness Challenge at the Batesville Community Center and the center’s partnership with the hospital.

Elia Alvarado and Jesus Hernandez of Batesville and their family were excited to ring in the New Year by welcoming their son, Adan Hernandez to the world. Adan was the first baby born at White River Medical Center (WRMC) in 2019. Dr. Meriden Glasgow delivered him January 1 at 8:36 A.M. Baby Adan weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces.
Students from the Eagle Mountain Magnet School spread Christmas joy on Monday afternoon through song. The carolers visited White River Medical Center to sing a variety of Christmas songs for patients, visitors, and staff to enjoy. Thank you to the students, teachers, and school district for allowing them to spread the Christmas spirit throughout the halls of the hospital.
White River Health System Internal Medicine residents, Bryan Huang, MD Anthony Kunnumpurath, MD; Neal Mehta, MD; Ron Varghese, MD; presented research findings at prestigious national conferences in Chicago, National Harbor, New Orleans and Philadelphia.
