During July, local teens learned about healthcare and the importance of volunteerism at White River Medical Center and Stone County Medical Center.  The Volunteens, formerly called Candy Stripers, applied  through their school guidance counselors to be part of the program.  Students represented the Batesville, Cedar Ridge, Mountain View, and Southside School districts.

This summer twelve Volunteens were a part of the program at White River Medical Center and three were at Stone County Medical Center.  As a part of the program, volunteens received CPR and Customer Service Training.   Volunteens spent time  in patient care areas delivering emails, flowers, and newspapers; and in support services assisting WRHS employees and volunteers.

Awards for the the Most Outstanding Volunteen and the Volunteen with the highest number of volunteer hours are presented at an event at the end of the program.
