McClanahan Named SCMC Nursing Director

(Mountain View, Ark.)—Kevin Spears, COO of Stone County Medical Center (SCMC), is proud to announce the appointment of Heather McClanahan as Director of Nursing at SCMC in Mountain View. As Director of Nursing, McClanahan oversees operations of all nursing departments including acute inpatient care, emergency services, surgery, and swing beds. Her responsibilities include ensuring clinical quality and accurate documentation, staffing, scheduling, and patient and physician satisfaction. “As a Stone county native, I feel a strong sense of commitment to SCMC, and the patients who choose to receive care here,” said McClanahan. “Our hospital is such an important asset for our community. I want to do everything I can in this role to ensure we continue to deliver excellent care, promote patient safety, and provide an environment where employees enjoy working.” McClanahan graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program at Ozarka College in Melbourne. She continued her education and received an Associate Degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB). She is currently continuing her education in pursuit of a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from the Arkansas State University (ASU) in Jonesboro. She plans to graduate in December. McClanahan has been an employee within White River Health System (WRHS) for 14 years. She began her career at White River Medical Center (WRMC) as a LPN on the third floor. After becoming a Registered Nurse (RN), she transferred to the Emergency Department. In 2010, McClanahan transferred to SCMC where she has held many roles such as Infection Control Nurse, Employee Health Nurse, Trauma Program Manager, AR Saves Coordinator, ED Denial Management, and her most recent title, Assistant Director of Nursing. “McClanahan has invested much of her time to WRHS and the patients we serve,” said Kevin Spears. “Her involvement and dedication make her a great choice for the position.” McClanahan serves as the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Instructor at SCMC. For the past four years, she has served as the Medical Applications of Science for Health (MASH) Coordinator. She also serves on the Performance Improvement Committee as co-chair and previously served as the Trauma Regional Advisory Council. Stone County Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving Mountain View and the surrounding area. SCMC is an affiliate of WRHS, a multi-facility not-for-profit organization serving north central Arkansas.
