General Surgeon Joins SCMC Medical Staff

Emilio Tirado MDGary L. Bebow, CEO of White River Health System (WRHS), and Stan Townsend, Administrator of Stone County Medical Center (SCMC), are pleased to welcome Dr. Emilio Tirado, General Surgeon, to the Medical Staff. His practice will be located inside Mountain View Specialty Clinic, also the offices of Ozark Orthopaedic and Hand Specialty, and White River Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinics.

As a General Surgeon, Dr. Tirado is responsible for providing surgical care for the treatment of a number of diseases. Dr. Tirado’s focuses in the area of General Surgery includes Abdominal Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, and Breast Cancer Surgery. As a member of the Medical Staff, he will be performing surgeries at SCMC. Dr. Tirado also accepts referrals for screen colonoscopy and EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) used to detect colon cancer and illnesses of the gastrointestinal tract.

He received his Medical Degree from Albany Medical College in New York. He completed an externship at the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, South America, and his surgery internship and residency at Westchester County Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Tirado is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Trustee of the Board of Arkansas Medical Society, a member of the American Medical Association, Southwestern Surgical Congress, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society of General Surgeons.

He was rated the Most Experienced General Surgeon in Robotic Surgery in Arkansas in December 2014. He was also named one of the Best Doctors in Arkansas in the General Surgery category by Arkansas Times in 2008, and 2011-2015.

“With more than 40 years of experience in General Surgery, Dr. Tirado has shown a great dedication to his field,” said Bebow. “We are fortunate that he has chosen to practice at SCMC. His expertise will be very beneficial to the residents of Stone County and surrounding areas.”

Dr. Tirado is board certified by The American Board of Surgery. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

“Stone County feels like home, but on a much smaller scale,” said Tirado. “I am grateful for the opportunity to practice in this community.”
