(Mountain View, ARK.) – Cardiac Rehabilitation at Stone County Medical Center (SCMC) has seen exponential growth since opening in May of 2018. Kevin Spears, SCMC Chief Operating Officer, announced the recent relocation of Cardiac Rehabilitation to 2010 East Main Street, Suite C, next to the Stone County Health and Fitness Center. During cardiac rehabilitation, patients receive an individualized treatment plan to improve health and manage heart disease. Patients with heart conditions including angina, balloon angioplasty, cardiac catheterization, recent cardiac surgery, coronary artery disease, heart attack, heart failure, heart transplant or stents may benefit from cardiac rehabilitation. Cardiac rehabilitation includes an assessment of personal risk factors, an individualized exercise plan supervised by clinical professionals, psychological/stress assessment, and education and support to make heart healthy lifestyle changes. Cardiac Rehabilitation also offers opportunities to meet and share stories with other patients; monitoring for better control of blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes; and improved communication with your primary care provider or cardiologist. Pulmonary Rehab is a program of structured exercise and education for patients with lung disease. Patients suffering from COPD, chronic asthma, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, restrictive wall disease, pulmonary hypertension, lung transplant or lung cancer, will benefit from the program. Pulmonary care includes diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a program of education and exercise classes that teaches you about your lungs, how to exercise and do activities with less shortness of breath, and how to live better with your lung condition. “We are eager to expand to better serve our patients,” said Kevin Spears. “Cardiac Rehabilitation significantly improves quality of life for patients with heart disease, and it is important that our community hospital offer this service locally.” Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation is available to patients in the Mountain View area Monday through Friday.
