Senior Haven, WRMC’s inpatient geriatric psychiatry unit is an environment of healing for senior adults affected by emotional and or behavioral conditions. Our primary goal is to improve each patient’s quality of life by addressing the emotional, psychological and social needs of older adults. Through care plans based on the unique needs of each patient, family involvement, education for the patient and their families, and comprehensive discharge planning, we provide the opportunity for each patient to develop living skills that assist in the aging process.
To qualify for admission, patients must be age 55 or older, or a resident of a licensed Nursing Facility. Patients with the following illnesses or symptoms may benefit from the treatment program offered by Senior Haven.
- Changes in Sleep Patterns
- Changes in Appetite
- Actions that Demonstrate an Intention to Harm Themselves or Others
- Significant Behavioral Changes
- Medication Misuse
In order to fully participate in the therapeutic benefits of group therapy and social activities, patients must be physically stable and cleared for admission by their personal physician.
