Internal Medicine Residency

Welcome to the White River Health System (WRHS) Internal Medicine (IM) Residency Program. We are in Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited program taking ten (10) residents per year. The WRHS IM Residency Program is located at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas just 90 miles north of Little Rock, Arkansas and 120 miles west of Memphis, Tennessee.

Our program offers traditional three-year Categorical Internal Medicine Residency Training. WRHS offers a community-based residency program partnered with the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  Residents have the unique opportunity to train in a community and hospital that are vibrant and relational with the advantages of training with a recognized academic medical center.

White River Medical Center Opportunities

Emergency Medicine

The WRMC Emergency Department is a Level III trauma facility with 30,000 visits annually. We are part of the AR SAVES Stroke Care Network. The Emergency Department includes 22 treatment rooms including rooms designed especially for trauma, psychiatry, OB/GYN, and isolation. 

Endocrinology

Join a large multi-specialty clinic serving patients from throughout the ten-county region. White River Medical Center has a full-time Hospital Medicine program to provide hospital support. The WRMC Internal Medicine Residency Program is an ACGME accredited program accepting ten Residents each year.

Gastroenterology

Join a well-established, multi-specialty group or establish a solo practice. Most outpatient procedures can be performed in the hospital's Ambulatory Surgery Center on the campus.

Interventional Cardiology

White River Cardiology is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to join our team. The hospital’s diagnostic cardiology department features four Cardiac Catheterization/Special Procedures suites and dedicated Cardiac Observation Unit. WRMC is a regional healthcare system serving patients throughout north central Arkansas.

Nephrology

Join a large multi-specialty clinic serving patients from throughout the ten-county region. White River Medical Center has a full-time Hospital Medicine program to provide hospital support. The WRMC Internal Medicine Residency Program is an ACGME accredited program accepting ten Residents each year.

Neurology

We are recruiting a second Neurologist to meet the needs of our ten-county region. WRMC is a member of the AR SAVES Stroke Care Network. Outpatient diagnostic services include EEG, nerve conduction studies, and sleep studies.

Orthopaedic Surgery with Spine Fellowship

Well-established orthopedic group of four surgeons is looking for an orthopaedic surgeon with a spine fellowship to join their group. We have state-of-the-art equipment in orthopaedics, including fracture table, synthes, trauma systems, and state-of-the-art arthroscopic and Mako robotic-arm assisted technology for total joint replacement surgery. Sponsorship of a spine fellowship may also be considered.

Pediatrics

Join a progressive Pediatric Clinic with three Pediatricians and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner dedicated to the health and well-being of children.

Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and hospital policy require a current TB skin test and annual flu vaccination for all active volunteers. Volunteens

The Volunteen program provides an opportunity for teens ages 14-17 to learn about careers in healthcare and the importance of volunteerism. Applications are accepted each spring for the six-week summer program. In addition to their volunteer assignments, Volunteens participate in customer service training, CPR training, and activities to promote careers in healthcare.

The Cheering Section

Auxiliary volunteers staff The Cheering Section Gift Shop, located on the first floor. Gift shop proceeds benefit Auxiliary scholarships and capital projects to improve the patient experience.
